The video aims to inspire and encourage optometrists to consider opening Vision Source locations in small towns by showcasing the benefits, community involvement, and personal fulfillment of serving these areas.
Through compelling stories and visuals, the documentary illustrates the positive difference a Vision Source practice can make in a smaller community.
Vision Source came to us looking to increase franchisee recruitment outside of the urban market, and one of the pain points they wanted to combat is the assumption that small-town practices will not have as many fulfilling experiences or technological advancements as optometrists who stay in larger cities. So, they identified multiple candidates who embody the example of an optometrist thriving as a Vision Source provider in a small town, especially those who had big city experience to provide perspective and those who place a high value on technological and educational advancement. Through pre-interviews and logistical planning, the Auburn site was chosen to feature and travel plans were made. In discussion with our interviewee, we developed a detailed plan for following his day and capturing his community impact in just a short day-long shoot.
Thanks to our pre-production planning, we had a clear vision of the town, the sites we wanted to visit, the interviews we wanted to capture, and how we could achieve that efficiently during our brief time in Auburn. Capturing the beauty of the town was no difficulty, despite it being a less-than-ideal time of year to film, but that is also thanks to the warmth and friendliness of the town and all the people we met on this trip.
The post-production team really made this one sing. Balancing color, sound, and personality, they put together a finished product that tells a compelling story with a big ol heapin’ helpin’ of Americana on top.
