What does it mean to be a Chief Roughneck?
Well, you gotta have grit, spirit, and determination, as you’re about to find out in this video honoring Lee K. Boothby as U.S. Steel Tubular Product’s Chief Roughneck of 2015.
We sat down with some of Lee’s colleagues to find out how he embodies the Chief Roughneck ideal as part of a yearly live event.
For this event we also produced an animated video which tells the history of the Chief Roughneck awards in honor of the award’s 50th anniversary celebration.
We gave voice to the award’s mascot, Joe Roughneck, and our goal was to highlight the achievements of past award recipients while inspiring Chief Roughnecks of the future.
Research regarding the history of the award and Lee Boothby’s career helped us build the story, including extensive pre-interviews with relevant colleagues and family members.
We scripted Voice Over narration, filmed interview footage that would be interspersed within the script, and filmed b roll with Mr. Boothby in his work environment.
We combined the interview footage with archival photography, in-office b roll and custom music and graphics to tell Mr. Boothby’s story. The animated history was developed by our team of graphic artists according to the client’s branding.
