Cut To Create partnered with Harris Health and the HCHD Foundation to create an emotional documentary-style film honoring the resilience of trauma survivors and the extraordinary people who helped guide them through recovery.
Produced for the 2026 Trauma Survivors Reunion Event, the piece brought together survivors, physicians, nurses, therapists, and hospital leadership from Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and Ben Taub Hospital to reflect on moments that changed their lives forever.
Our goal was to create something that felt deeply human. Not a clinical overview of trauma care, but a story about connection, perseverance, teamwork, and hope.
Through intimate multi-camera interviews and cinematic verité footage, we followed survivors as they revisited the hospitals, hallways, and care teams tied to some of the most difficult and transformative moments of their lives.
The emotion of seeing survivors reconnect with the people who helped save them became the emotional backbone of the film.
Visually, we wanted the project to feel grounded and authentic while still carrying the cinematic polish Cut To Create is known for.
We combined observational footage inside active hospital environments with quieter moments at home and in everyday life to show how recovery extends far beyond the hospital walls.
Dynamic graphics, thoughtful sound design, and carefully selected music helped shape a film that could command attention on a large event screen while still feeling personal and intimate.
This project reminded us why we love documentary storytelling so much.
At its core, it is a story about people showing up for one another during the hardest moments imaginable and the lasting impact that care, compassion, and teamwork can have on someone’s life.
